- Fine tune your media radar
- Develop media literacy skills to recognize propaganda and fake news
- Learn techniques to amplify your own voice and get your ideas heard
- Engage in social and political activism
This is a workshop like you've never experienced before. Skaggs will show you how the mass media is hooked into reporting false information. And whatever your discipline, profession, or background - whether it's writing, fine art, performance, public relations, advertising, cultural studies, or political science - if you have something you want to say, he will teach you how to make it attractive to the media so it gets noticed in the crowded information marketplace. To bring it all home, he will help participants identify the social issues that concern them, analyze their target audience, and conceive a plan for social action.

ABOUT THE FILM
Art of the Prank is a feature documentary about New York artist Joey Skaggs, the godfather of the media hoax. Famed for such media fictions as the Celebrity Sperm Bank, the Cathouse for Dogs, the Fat Squad, and Portofess, all reported as fact by prestigious journalists, he's one of America's greatest living satirists. When he decides to pull off the most demanding hoax of his career, filmmaker Andrea Marini gets a unique view into the mind of this most unconventional man.
The resulting film is an emotional journey of will and determination following the evolution of an artist who has dedicated his life to seeking social change by relentlessly challenging the status quo. Filmed in New York, Connecticut, London, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and with unprecedented access to the man and his archives, the 85-minute documentary reveals the man behind the curtain, interweaving his current unfolding hoax with a look behind-the-scenes at some of his classic performance pieces.Preview link available upon request.
